Anne Kelly Laynor
Anne Kelly Laynor has been in the private practice of law since 1987 and has been focusing almost exclusively on family law since she founded the Law Office of Anne Kelly Laynor in 2001. She represents clients in the negotiation and preparation of separation, custody, support and property settlement agreements and, when necessary or appropriate, in litigation pending before the Circuit Courts of Maryland. Anne is experienced in litigating contested divorce, custody, support and marital property matters. She is also a certified mediator, a certified best interest attorney, child advocate attorney, and child’s privilege attorney.
Anne has been active in Bar Association activities since she was admitted to the practice of law. She has held executive positions with the Women’s Bar Association of Maryland, the Baltimore City/Baltimore County/Carroll County Chapter of the WBA, the Howard County Chapter of the WBA, and the Bar Foundation of Howard County. She is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Women’s Bar Association, the Hon. James Macgill American Inn of Court, the Maryland Bar Foundation, and the Howard County Bar Association. Anne was named to Maryland Super Lawyers for Family Law in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. She received the Conwell R. Sapp Award from the Howard County Women’s Bar Association in June 2014, honoring her for her service to the organization and for serving as a friend and mentor to many along the way.
After growing up in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Anne attended Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, in 1982. Anne graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law, J.D. with honors, in 1987. Anne was sworn in as a member of the Maryland State Bar in 1987. Anne and her husband, Jeff, have two daughters.
Andrea Solan joined the Law Office of Anne Kelly Laynor as an associate attorney in January 2012. She previously worked as a Legal Editor at the American Health Lawyers Association in Washington, D.C., and then as a freelance legal editor and writer for clients including Bloomberg BNA and the Association for Corporate Counsel. At the Law Office of Anne Kelly Laynor, Andrea has focused exclusively on family law. She has worked on cases involving divorce, child custody and visitation, child support, alimony, property division, post-judgment modifications, and a variety of other issues. Andrea works individually with clients and also provides support to Anne, depending on the nature of the case.
Andrea is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Women’s Bar Association, the Hon. James Macgill American Inn of Court, and the Howard County Women’s Bar Association.
Andrea grew up in San Jose, California, before moving to Maryland and graduating from high school. She attended the University of Delaware and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1993. She graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law, J.D., in 1997 and was sworn in as a member of the Maryland State Bar that same year. Andrea and her husband, Brian, live in Howard County with their three children.
Suzanne Simpson, Of Counsel

Suzanne also represents families seeking guardianship for disabled loved ones.
Prior to establishing Simpson Law, P.A., Suzanne was a strong litigator, practicing in domestic relations with Bean Kinney & Korman, as Senior Associate, and Smolen & Plevy, P.C., where her practice focused on estate planning, domestic relations and civil litigation. Suzanne graduated from George Mason Law University Law School in 1991, after which she served as Law Clerk to the then Chief Judge of Fairfax County, the Honorable Richard J. Jamborsky, and the Honorable Thomas S. Kenny.
Avvo named Suzanne a Client’s Choice Attorney and a Top Estate Attorney for 2012-2014. She is a Past-President of the Howard County Women’s Bar Association (2011-12) and served as the co-chair of the Estate Planning section of the Howard County Bar Association for four years. Currently, she is also a member of the Estate Planning Council of Suburban Maryland, where she served on the board for five years. Suzanne has served as By-Laws Chair on the PTA at her children’s school and has held board positions with the local International MOMs Club. She met her husband, Mark, while hiking with the Washington Ski Club and stills enjoys family hikes, as well as biking and international travel with their two children.
Janet Borders, Administrative Assistant
Janet Borders joined the Law Office of Anne Kelly Laynor in 2007 as the Administrative Assistant. She is responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the firm, and also plays an integral role in client communications from the start of each relationship. Janet has over eight years of legal experience, and takes pride in making a real connection with each client.
